Booking a Stay

Sixteen bedrooms, providing for up to 32 guests in double occupancy, are available to you in the three 3-bedroom cottages (Maple, Salerno and Eagle), the 2-bedroom Little Hawk Bunkie and 5 bedrooms in the Main Lodge. All buildings are climate controlled for year-round comfort.

Each unique cottage has a full bathroom and a powder room as well as a full kitchen and living/dining area. The Little Hawk Bunkie has two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, plus a live/work room with kitchenette. The Main Lodge consists of five bedrooms, two full bathrooms including a fully accessible facility, one powder room, the Great Room, and the Sunroom/Dining room.

The Post House is at 1297 Kashagawigamog Lake Rd. in Minden Hills, Ontario. K0M 2K0 Canada, lakeside in Ontario’s Haliburton Highlands, just over 2-hours’ drive from Toronto, or about 3.5 hours from Hamilton, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, or Ottawa.

The Post House is open year-round for exclusive use on a full-buyout basis, by advance private booking only. Yes, we can be booked for holidays, as well as corporate and personal events.

No, The Post House is an exclusive-use retreat. The entire property must be booked on a full-buyout basis.

The Post House is designed specifically to host all kinds of private corporate, business, and personal events. (Because of our residential lakeside location, there are limits to what we can accommodate in terms of intimate to medium-sized weddings and evening entertainment.) Please contact us with details of your event plan including preferred dates, type, and number of guests. 

Arrival time at The Post House is 3:00 pm on the first night of your stay. All guests must check out of their rooms/cottages by 11:00 am on day of departure. If specific earlier or later arrangements are required, such as morning meeting use for a business retreat, or set-up time for a personal celebration, those details can be customized with your booking. 

We will work closely with your group’s representative to understand your specific needs. Your booking will be considered confirmed once the agreement is signed by both parties and a deposit is received by us.  

Once your booking is confirmed and your deposit received, we will send you written confirmation by email.  When you have paid the balance of your booking fee, we will send you a final confirmation and stay reminder. This will include arrival directions and all relevant contact details.

Due to our size and private format, booking deposits are non-refundable. If you must change your arrival, please contact us, or we will reach out to you, to make personalized arrangements.

Guests

The Post House is designed as a private retreat for adults, but children are always welcome as a part of your exclusive group. Children under 16 are not permitted to use the Fitness Studio, including the sauna. The waterfront and docks are unsupervised. Children swimming or using the water sports equipment must be accompanied by an adult at all times. IMPORTANT: The Post House does not provide equipment for young children, such as cribs or playpens, . If staying with us, you will need to bring your own. We do have a limited number of booster seats, highchairs and child life jackets.

All guests must be registered and staying overnight on-property. 

Upon request, we can accommodate a limited number of well-behaved dogs at the Post House. Dogs must stay off all furniture and you are responsible for cleaning up after your pet. You will be asked to comply with our rules and pay a fee. 

The safety of our guests and team is paramount. We follow all current regional, provincial, and national Public Health regulations and recommendations.

 

Facilities

What on-site amenities and activities are there? 
Our waterfront dock and Boathouse is stocked with paddleboards, canoe, and kayaks.   

You are welcome to bring your own motorized watercraft and dock it at the Post House. There is a boat launch nearby. Boating licensing, insurance and use are solely your responsibility.  

Our Fitness Studio features a Peloton, a water rowing machine, treadmills, ellipticals and a cable crossover machine, as well as a selection of free weights and TRX bands. There is also a dry sauna.
  
Our back patio and event lawn can also be used for games like Disc Slam,  bean bag toss and croquet. We have a small selection of indoor games as well. Use of any gym, fitness, sauna (when available under Public Health protocols) and non-motorized watersports equipment, areas, or facilities is entirely at the risk of the guest(s). A health commitment statement/ waiver must be signed for access, all policies observed, and life jackets worn. 

Food & Drink

Gourmet meals will be provided by Executive Chef Dan Sanders and Sous Chef Amber Husband. Menus are pre-selected prior to your arrival and can accommodate any dietary restrictions, with advance notice. Additional special request options, like , pre-arrival fridge or specific stocking, and special BBQs are available. Nespresso Coffee, Tea, Pop and Juices are provided in each cottage.

The Haliburton Post House’s three larger cottages have complete kitchens, and the fourth has a kitchenette. You are welcome to bring your own food, drinks and snacks for personal consumption but please note that food is included in the price. We do not offer complete self-catering.

Other

Every building has a smart TV with a satellite feed, HDMI cables are provided so bring your PS4, PS5 or Xbox. Wi-Fi is included and ubiquitous.    

The Post House has been fully enhanced with modern conveniences including keyless entry, Nest thermostats, and EV charging stations. 

Beyond the lake, there is plenty to do including several nearby golf courses, as well as hiking trails and biking routes. Fishing, ice fishing and snowmobiling are also popular pursuits, depending on the season. For more things to do please visit https://myhaliburtonhighlands.com/
